Q. 

 

Who is DiscountYarnSale.com?

A.  We are a small online yarn shop (but growing quickly) with just a handful of employees.  Our goal is to continue to grow by increasing the number of yarns we carry and make available to our customers.
Q. Why do some of the links not work on your site?
A. We are in process up adding new yarns to the site and hope to have these links active very soon.  We appreciate your patience while we "upgrade" -- and if you happen across a link that is a dud or is just plain wrong, please let us know!
Q. Why are your prices so good?
A. We can offer great prices to our customer because we sell our yarn by the bag only.  If you have a "Sam's Club" near you, then you're familiar with the "buy in bulk and save" concept.  We use the same concept here.
Q. Why does it take a little longer to get my yarn from DiscountYarnSale.com?
A. Without going into all the details of how we operate, it takes a little longer because we have less overhead and lower prices.  'Nuff said?
Q. Can I return something I buy from your site if I'm not happy with it?
A. Returns are accepted within 15 days on defective merchandise only.  Yarn is not returnable.  We suggest you return by insured mail for your protection.  Credit will be issued to the original credit card used for purchase.  Sorry, shipping charges are not refundable.
Q. Do you ship internationally?
A. Yes!
Q. Why am I getting a "decline" on my credit card from your system?
A. There are several possibilities for this but we will mention the most common.  First, you simply may not have the funds available on your account and don't realize it.  However, if you're sure you have plenty of "available credit" left on your account, more than likely it's an address mismatch problem.  If you are experiencing problems getting an approval on our system, please contact us and we will try to get an authorization from a different merchant account.  If you are an international buyer, you will more than likely get a "decline" from our system, but we can usually get an approval on our other merchant account.
Q. My yarn is backordered.  Why wasn't I notified immediately of the backorder?
A. DiscountYarnSale.com makes every effort to ensure that the yarn available for order on this site is current and available from the manufacturer.  There are times however when a manufacturer discontinues or backorders an item without immediate notification.  Be assured that we will notify you of a backorder as soon as we are aware of it.
Q. I only received a portion of my order.  Why?
A. As stated in our policies, "if an order contains items that have been discontinued or backordered by the manufacturer, the remainder of the order will be filled and shipped. A credit will be applied to the customers account (for the discontinued item and the shipping on that item) - no automatic substitutions will be made for the customer.  If you do not want a partial order filled, you must make a note of it on the checkout page in the section entitled "Comments/Special Delivery Information".  If this section is left blank, DiscountYarnSale.com will process partial orders.  
Q. Why are backorders so common in the yarn industry these days?
A. As many of you know, knitting and crocheting is back "en vogue" like never before.  Add to this the fact that the yarn industry has made remarkable additions to the yarn market and you'll understand why "everybody" is clamoring to "get more yarn".  No one anticipated the unprecedented demand for yarn that has occurred in the past year (sales are up over 150% from last year, we've been told) and even the yarn manufacturers were "caught off guard".  Things are slowly beginning to stabilize somewhat but many yarns are very difficult to obtain.  In many cases, the only way to "get ahold of" some of these yarns is to backorder them and just be patient (easier said than done, we know).  
Q. I don't need a whole bag of yarn.  What should I do with the extras?
A. There are several things you can do with your "extra" yarn (can we ever truly have too much yarn?), but a couple of suggestions are to split a bag with a fellow knitter or crocheter, sell the extras on eBay, or simply keep it in your stash.  
Q. Is DiscountYarnSale.com doing anything to give back to the community?
A. Yes.  DiscountYarnSale.com is the sole supporter and organizer of  the Mainland Community Church Chemo Cap Ministry.  We donate the yarn to local knitters and crocheters who in turn knit and / or crochet caps for cancer patients undergoing chemo therapy.  All caps are donated to M.D. Anderson and local cancer patients.  
Q. Why is it so hard to get ahold of you by phone?
A. There are several reasons for this.  First, we are frequently away from the phone filling (processing, bagging and shipping) orders.  Secondly, we prefer contact by email so that all info is "documented" and not lost in a shuffle of papers on our desks.  We intentionally do not put our business number on our site specifically for this reason, but if you absolutely positively have to speak to a living breathing person, you are welcome to contact us for our number.  If we're away from the phone filling orders, please leave us a message and we will either email or phone you back.
